All kids entering K-6th grade are invited to join us this summer for our Awaken City Kids Camp. They found a home to rent in Herriman and fell in love with the community. They knew they wanted to come to Utah but didn't have a particular location in mind other than the Salt Lake area. Derek and his wife moved with their five children from Knoxville, Tennessee a little over two years ago, along with five other families. In this series we seek to realign our understanding, and bring clarity to this world we live in. The relationships they build with those they serve and serve with bring the most gratification. Awaken City Church is a community of believers in west Knoxville who wish to awaken others to the power and love of Jesus Christ. A kingdom that values the very things God hates and discourages the things that please him. They also hosted a pancake breakfast to bring together new friends and neighbors. They have held multiple neighborhood gatherings over the last two years that have brought in 300-500 people each. A non-denominational Church (Calvary Chapel Affiliate) that meets at 10am on Sunday mornings at the Epic Movie. They will wash windows, pull weeds, or run events just to name a few. But they don't stop with only City events! Awaken City Church members have volunteered at a handful of schools, the recreation center, with committees, and within neighborhoods. The church sponsored and helped co-run the Yeti Hunt in 2017 and members have volunteered at several events since then, including the Fort Herriman Towne Days parade and the Herriman Howl. He reached out to Herriman City to inquire about special event permits in order to run a community scavenger hunt, which forged a partnership between the church and City.
